Nicholas's first book, published in 1987, was on Camille Pissarro's paintings of the Crystal Palace area of South London. His next was on Pissarro in West London.
Nicholas started as a classicist and Roman archaeologist, and has degrees in these subjects. He has always been interested in local history, but has specialised in art history since 1984.
Nicholas is a lecturer for NADFAS, the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies and he was also Founder-Chairman of the Friends of Shakespeare's Globe 1985-87.

Nicholas has just finished his new book "Sisley on the Thames and the Welsh Coast". This is published in time for the exhibition entitled Sisley in England and Wales.
This exhibition was shown in London in the winter of 2008-9.
